I spent more than twenty years behind a camera, watching people light up when they finally felt seen. Some days it felt like my superpower: giving people permission to be seen and to feel safe. But somewhere in there, I stopped seeing myself.

I was capable. I was grateful. I was fine. I said it so often that I believed it. It took me a long time to admit that “fine” was the very thing keeping me out of my own life.

If any of this sounds like you, I want you in this room.

What we’ll do together

  • Name what “I’m fine” has been covering for you. Not to fix it. Just to finally see it.
  • Notice the difference between getting through your days and actually living them.
  • Try a simple breath and body check-in you can use anywhere, even standing in line at the grocery store.
  • Leave with an honest answer to a question most people never ask you: what do you want now? Even if your answer is “I’m still not sure,” that’s okay. We move forward knowing we’re not finished yet.

Come as you are

This isn’t the kind of class where you hide behind a black square. I’ll be on camera too, and that isn’t easy for me either.

Camera on, unfinished and unapologetic. Nobody here needs you to be fine, so come as you are!

Meet Lea

Lea Austen

I’m Lea Austen, a photographer, writer, and artist living in Charleston, South Carolina, where my window looks out over the marsh. For more than twenty years I’ve stood behind a camera, and my favorite part has never been the gear. It’s the person standing in front of me, and helping her feel comfortable and special enough to let a real moment happen.

I published It’s All About the Love because I believe with everything in me that we are put here to love. I also created a book and card deck for people living with respiratory issues, and I’m working on coffee table books of photos, prayers, poetry, and all things Italy.

In the last two years, I lost my mom and welcomed my grandson. Somewhere between those two moments, I realized we never fully arrive. We wear all the hats, do all the things, and get lost behind the roles. Unfinished and Unapologetic is my gift to the woman who is ready to return to herself, the woman she is now.
